RWE Power (RWE) is a wholly-owned subsidiary of RWE AG, Germany’s largest power producer, with around 11,000 employees working in lignite open cast mines, power plants, upgrading facilities and administration. RWE Power contributes around 14 GW of electricity from lignite, nuclear and hydro power into the broader energy mix of the wider RWE group, which includes other renewable energy and natural gas. RWE invests in the development of environmentally friendly power production technologies and considers CCUS to be an important tool towards reaching climate protection goals.

RWE has collaborated on various national and international CCUS demonstration projects. RWE’s capture pilot plant at the Innovation Centre at Niederaussem has operated continuously since 2009 as part of development and optimisation programmes for CO2 capture and CCU technology and the site hosts demonstration plants for several CCU projects, including MefCO2, ALIGN-CCUS, OCEAN and LOTER.CO2M. RWE’s comprehensive experience in long-term testing of amine-based solvents in industrial environments will contribute to accomplishing the LAUNCH project objectives.
